To my readers, thank you for this gift.

In September of this year, I decided to make a go of it writing for a living.  I was certain that I’d barely skimp by and may even have to deliver pizzas a few times a month or something.  But you guys…you lovely, lovely readers who read my posts and share them, who upvote them on reddit and other sites…you have made it possible for me to have my dream job.

As a writer,  I can work from anywhere with wireless internet.  I can take more speaking engagements, I can visit my fiancee for longer, and most relevant at this particular moment, I can come visit my family for the whole of the holidays while my brother is home.  I love my family, and I don’t get to see them enough.  I’m sure several of you out there can relate.

I am so lucky, and I am so full of gratitude to all of you.  You have given me this opportunity.  By reading my work, you have made it possible for me to be with my family more over the holidays.  Support from my “fans” (ugh, that word sounds icky) is a wonderful gift, but the gift of time with those I love is…more than I ever expected.

Thank you.  Thank you so much.

Here is what I did with the time you gave me on Friendsmas Day.
