Michaelyn getting to chat with Sam Brownback.

For the record, my lovely fiancee will be part of a small contingent of Kansas atheists who will get a thirty minute audience with uber religious Gov. Sam Brownback today to talk about issues related to atheists.  I’m very proud of her.

Leave her comments of encouragement!

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

Keep a bar of soap handy. I’d feel dirty after being in a room with Sam Brownback. And I don’t mean the good kind of dirty.
(Woot for tricking Disqus into thinking I’m not on a mobile device. Though it now doesn’t handle control key inputs correctly and there’s not text cursor…)

As a former Kansas resident, I’d be interested in seeing any notes she might have after the meeting. I can’t imagine myself being able to say anything nice in that company.

I hope the senators office is made aware of the things said about him on local KC atheist blogs.

In fact, we are on that right now!

Yes, he should know that people want to hold him, and the state government, accountable for their practices. She shouldn’t be nervous. He should be. He should feel beholden to all the people in his state, even if he doesn’t agree.

Deleted comment. Well, I will just let my response stand and leave it to the reader to guess the stupidity I commented on.

Go Michaelyn! Ask tough questions. Would it be possible to take notes and/or record, so we could get a transcript?

  • Katet

    I’m anticipating something like this.

    • Glodson

Oh no, now her face is going to freeze like that. Which is ironic as it is starting to warm up.

    • JTEberhard

Holy shit…that is the best thing that ever happened.

    It’s a trap!

    Also, best wishes. :-)
