The best surprise. :)

Michaelyn and I spend a lot of time together on Skype.  Even if I’m writing/gaming and she’s doing homework, we still have each other’s face up on Skype.  So yesterday she told me she wouldn’t be home until 8pm to Skype because she was going to hang out with a friend.

It turns out I was that friend.  She made the six-hour trek from Lawrence, KS down to Mountain Home, AR to surprise me.

I am the luckiest man alive.  The wonder of the woods is always so much better when you have someone to share it with.

My husband and I haven’t seen each other for over three months, because he’s overseas and we are waiting for the green card process to be over. We also Skype like you. It would take a very expensive plane ticket to do what you did, so we can’t, but we can only look at the two of you and say “awwwwwww”. :)

Hang in there, it’s a long and tough road but it is worth it! What stage are you at?

    The wonder of the woods…

Enough with the anatomical euphemisms, the NSA is listening.

    One-upping Michaelyn here:
After I graduated college in the pre-cell phone years, I would leave my job in downtown Toledo, and drive the 500 miles to my future wife in Marquette (MI), spend the weekend there, and drive back on Sunday night. I did that for the last half of my now-wife’s last semester. Even with that, our last phone bill was $300. (And that’s 300 bucks in 1986!)

We’ll be celebrating our 25th anniversary next month.
