Splendid rebuttal of Ray Comfort.

Ray Comfort runs his apologetics business under the name “Way of the Master”.  He doesn’t say what he’s the master of, but I think he’s laying claim to being the master of dishonest editing after shooting interviews.

His most recent offering is a video titled Evolution vs. God.  I regret losing the time out of my life to watch it.  Here, share my misery:

It was too long to be easily mocked, and too stupid to convince anybody who wasn’t already convinced.  However, someone on youtube named Jaclyn Glenn endured it and slashed it to ribbons.  I’ll just post her video:

About JT Eberhard

When not defending the planet from inevitable apocalypse at the rotting hands of the undead, JT is a writer and public speaker about atheism, gay rights, and more. He spent two and a half years with the Secular Student Alliance as their first high school organizer. During that time he built the SSA’s high school program and oversaw the development of groups nationwide. JT is also the co-founder of the popular Skepticon conference and served as the events lead organizer during its first three years.

    That made my head hurt.

    His video, not the rebuttal.

~ 8 minutes, she’s formally right about the one-shot disproof of evolution (fossil in the wrong strata) but it makes evolution sound easier to kill than it is. OTOH I have a trol creationist on another thread playing tag whom I’ll point to this vid :).

    • cipher

baal, why do you even bother with those imbeciles?

      • baal

While I don’t agree with TBJ’s view of out trolling the trolls, I also think that some trolls provide a decent platform for pointing up the egregious anti-human positions the religious take. I’d like to think I don’t feed them – they get more than a little annoyed with me so I think I’m doing it mostly right.

        • cipher

Neither they nor those on the sidelines who agree with them will change their minds. They believe what they want to believe.

I’ve been told such exchanges can help to sway those who are “on the fence”. I’m not at all convinced. My experiences have led me to conclude that any attempt at dialogue with them is an utter waste of time.

However, it’s your time to waste.

Humans have a deep seated need to disagree with people on the internets. It’s how we evolved. ;p

          • Down With Blizz

Dont think i agree with that as it stands.
People have a deep seated need to disperse their retarded view in a way that their nearest friends and people in their lives cant say squat and set them right, and they are able to ignore or completely delete comments that prove them wrong. So they continue down the path of wilfull intentional ignorance surrounded by multiple other retards that have gravitated towards their retarded pro creation view and dont set each other straight.

In a way, its like that group of bitchy little girls, one of which does the dirty on her boyfriend, sleeps with all of his mates, and does it in a way so he finds out and dumps her. She goes running crying back to her mates, and instead of getting a slap around the lughole and being told shes a bitch and shouldnt do what shes doing, the hugbox kicks in and ‘Its not you its him, hes such a bastard’…. when the “Bastard” was right all along.

  • Loqi

Read title and was expecting to see someone Gallagher a bunch of bananas. I am disappoint.

  • Mike De Fleuriot

That is why I like this movement, we have strong minded folk who are able to watch this nonsense and put together effective rebuttals like this. So that we do not have to suffer though it, we all knew RayRay would cock it up, just like B.Stein.

  • ChuckyJesus

I don’t even like to say that we came from apes…. we are apes!!

    • iknklast

This is not only preferentially true, it is literally true, based on human classification. We are one of the great apes (though maybe not the greatest. That’s a subjective proposal I’ll leave to others to fight out).

    • Matt Begley

Just because we can make fire and aren’t afraid of the vacuum cleaner does not make us a superior species.

“It is apparent that we are not as evolved as we like to think. We are still groups of primitive apes flinging our feces at each other. The only obvious evidence of any advancement is how far we can now throw, and the fact that it now explodes.”
      -Uncle Matt

      • James Graham

        I like that quote. :)

      • islandbrewer

*cough* I’m kind of afraid of vacuum cleaners.

  • James Graham

I only made it 14 minutes through his video. :/ Could not stand the stupidity any longer.

  • James Graham

He makes that statement regarding what was stated as being “adaptation” and not “evolution”. Well ya know what? Evolution consists of billions of years of “adaptations”. We see evolution all the time…through adaptation! Viruses becoming resistant to vaccines is adaptation, which is evolution on a short scale. The changes of plants, insects, animals, etc. to better survive their environment is adaptation, which we can see today. Now spread that out over billions of years… That’s billions of years worth of adaptations which = evolution! DUH! Hell, humans continue to evolve as well. There are many, many historic versions of humans all leading up to present day, with many obvious physical differences. You can put ‘em in a line and see the changes. There may not be enough to fill in every millisecond of time, but there is more than enough to see the obviousness of it to trace the lineage. When you’re working on a puzzle, you get to a point when you can see what the picture is. You may not have all the holes filled in, but it becomes insanely obvious.

If you want two points where animal A immediately became animal B, it ain’t gonna happen. If people could make something exist out of thin air, then that would actually give credit to the existence of God, actually. Because if a human can do it, then why couldn’t God? But we can’t, so He “ain’t”. Even if we had one single fossil, it’s more evidence than that of God.

  • ProphetAtheist

    Awesome rebuttal. Respect!

  • Park James

Nice video, but I think just saying “fuck off Ray Comfort” is equally valid.

  • Matt Begley

Jacklyn… Very well done. I really enjoyed that.

  • Ryan Hite

Ray Comfort and people like him give me headaches.

  • storm

I’ve actually suffered through many of Comfort’s movies. Anyone else notice they are all the same thing?

  • Kevin Clay

Fine work, Jaclyn. But I’m from Texas, so I know for sure it won’t shut the moron up. Won’t shut up the moron? Whatever.

  • GodlessHeathenLiberalSocialist

I’d like to see her rebuttal.

  • David OKeefe

Thank you. No new information but it’s nice to know there are others out there who think it’s drivel. Ray Comfort is embarrassing, I am ashamed he comes from the same country that I do. I feel sorry for the people out there that will watch his video and take it as truth.
