Ken Ham says Bill Nye doesn’t understand science.

Ken Ham has taken another giant step towards securing himself a spot at the lack of self-awareness Olympics.  Ham just edged out porn stars accusing nuns of immodesty when he said:

Australian “young Earth” creationist pastor Ken Ham said on Facebook Tuesday that Bill Nye “The Science Guy” does not “understand science correctly” because Nye does not believe in a literal interpretation of the Biblical book Genesis.

Yes, for failing to begin with the conclusion (the bible is inerrant) before examining the evidence, it is somehow Nye, not Ham, who doesn’t understand science.

To think, if only Bill Nye believed the first woman was created from a rib and that she was tricked into eating an apple by a talking snake, then he could really call himself a scientist.  I’m sure, after being wounded by Ham’s completely credible words, Bill Nye will get right on that.

Wait, can I claim that Ken Hamm doesn’t understand the bible because he doesn’t believe in the scientific method?

    • Zinc Avenger

      Bullshit is a commutative property.

  • Silent Service

    This is stuck in my head to the tune of Bill’s old TV show;

    “Ken Ham the science sham!”

    Bet his ratings will suck.

You win Best Comment. Every time Ham’s name comes up, I’m going to hear that in that slow, drawling bass voice. And probably say it out loud.

      • Silent Service

        Glad I could help.

Between him and Pat Robertson its like a race to the bottom.

Kam Hamm is unrepentant in his counter factual bs. If you’re going to ‘big lie’ might as well shoot the moon?

    • CanuckAmuck

You should have said “…shoot FOR the moon”, because we know the moon landing was faked – after all, how can you land a rocket on cheese?

      • islandbrewer

Actually, “shoot the moon” is a term from the card game Hearts, where you try to win all the penalty cards in one deal.

Keep letting the fraud speak, he’s practically forcing critical thinking on observers with his antics, and his audience seems to be dwindling.

My own mother told me last weekend that science couldn’t be true because they keep changing their minds. I said, ‘mom, that’s what science is, when they find new evidence to make the old theory not true, they find a new theory, rather than looking at a holy book’ :-0

    • Gehennah

I had a friend tell me the same thing about evolution being wrong because the theory has changed since Darwin’s day.

The bad thing is the guy is normally pretty intelligent.

      • katiehippie

She probably had just heard it at church. But the pastor had been an engineering student before he switched to ministry. Baffles the mind, I tell ya.

        • Gehennah

Baffles me too, but hopefully one day she will come around.

Might be worthwhile to point out that religion keeps changing too. You don’t see too many priests advocating slavery anymore…

  • Bev Stapleton

The stupidity of this statement makes my brain hurt. Hamm needs to crawl back under the rock he came from.

  • ZeldasCrown

Reminds me of this article: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/09/18/creationist-nye-wrong-about-moonlight-because-beethoven-said-so/

wherein Ray Comfort states that Bill Nye is wrong about the moon not emitting its own light because of Beethoven’s moonlight sonata. He bemoans “[...] Darwinian evolutionist believers hide behind the skirts of science, genuine science, and talk about science”. Genuine science: the moon gives off its light because there are lots of pretty songs about it. Fake science: documenting observables and drawing conclusions based upon testable hypotheses.
