Via Vatican radio reporting on the Pope’s most recent homily:
The spirit of curiosity generates confusion and distances a person from the Spirit of wisdom, which brings peace, said Pope Francis in his homily during Thursday morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta.
Curiosity generates confusion? No…curiosity is the antidote to confusion. It’s what happens when something doesn’t make sense and you want to figure out why. It’s what happens when you don’t know something and you want to learn it. Without curiosity we’d have no medicine, no probes on comets, no airplanes…curiosity is the path to the knowledge.
Curiosity is one of the most commendable of all human attributes. In its absence, peace can only be achieved if ignorance is truly blissful. It’s clear from this statement what the pope and his Church think of their adherents.
