This isn’t a clickbait title, there is seriously a Christian website that not only encourages marital rape, but discusses how to make it easier. I’m going to briefly share some of their disgusting quotes so if you don’t want to read about rape, feel free to close this article.
“If your wife says “NO” and slaps your hand away that is a disrespectful and unloving response by your wife to your sexual initiation and there is no sin in you trying to initiate sex with your wife.”
Okay, this is just a blatant promotion of marital rape. Absolutely horrifying. The author then cites the Bible to support how men should force their wives to have sex with them:
“Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.” – I Corinthians 7:3-5 (KJV)
But of course men are not responsible at all for working at a healthy sex life with their partner. The Bible is cited again to support misogyny.
“That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” – Titus 2:4-5 (KJV)
The end of the article discusses “the secret of enjoying grudgingly given sex from your wife” with this nauseating tip:
“Focus your eyes on her body, not her face. Focus on the visual pleasure you receive from looking at her body and physical pleasure you receive from being inside your wife.”
“Your beautiful bride’s face becomes ugly during this sinful time that she is grudgingly giving you sex as she grimaces wanting you to “just hurry up and get it over with”.
This article is atrocious and I would go in greater detail, but it was hard enough for me to type out this much. Yes, not all Christians support such blatant endorsement of rape, but this illustrates a major problem with religion: Any immoral behavior can be justified if a person believes God would support it. Religion isn’t going away anytime soon, so I hope in the mean time more progressive Christians will call out this kind of repulsive nonsense when they come across it.
Christians will regularly call atheists immoral and evil, but atheists are not the ones who with a belief system that can be used to promote rape.
