Conservative Christian group sends men into women’s bathrooms to “test” Target’s policies

Conservative Christian group sends men into women’s bathrooms to “test” Target’s policies May 2, 2016

In a recent interview, Sandy Rios, the American Family Association‘s director of governmental affairs, said that activists of her group were “testing” Target by sending men into women’s bathrooms. Rios said:

“I think there’s no question that when you say that there are no barriers in the bathroom and that if men or women feel like they are men or women, the opposition of however they are equipped, and you have no restrictions, the net effect will be that people will not be stopped. We’ve already had people testing this, going into Targets and men trying to go into bathrooms. There is absolutely no barrier.”

“And so the chief concern, even more than just, I think, trauma, certainly for little girls of having men dressed like women coming in their bathrooms, the chief concern of the American Family Association is the predators who will take advantage.”

It’s been shown time and time again that transgender people are not a threat to anyone in the bathroom. However, this anti-LGBT group appears to be an actual threat for causing trouble in bathrooms. If they really are concerned about little girls being traumatized by seeing grown men in the bathroom, why would traumatize them on purpose? It seems like they are faking concern for women to express their bigotry. If these groups were honestly concerned with violence against women, they would be donating money to rape crisis centers instead of sending men into women’s bathrooms.
