As I’ve mentioned recently on my blog, I am trying to seek out more people who disagree with me politically. I understand this is a difficult thing to do so I really appreciate when people can manage civil dialogue even when they strongly disagree. Trevor Noah recently interviewed Tomi Lahren, a conservative and outspoken critic of the black lives matter movement. I’m a Noah fan and a liberal so I was obviously biased watching this, but I felt like Noah easily dismantled each of Lahren’s arguments.
Importantly, Lahren’s views reflect how many Americans feel so her words give some interesting insights of the current political climate, especially for those in our liberal bubbles. Lahren felt like the black lives matter protesters were all too destructive, but never gave an answer to Noah’s question on how black people should protest correctly. When Lahren said “she doesn’t see color” it was clear that the interview wasn’t going anywhere and there is still a lot for her to learn that couldn’t be done in this short segment.
