Trump Is Getting 4-1 Odds Of Being Impeached Within Six Months January 18, 2017

Donald Trump hasn’t been sworn in yet and betting websites are already predicting he won’t last a full term. The betting website Paddy Power gave Trump 4-1 odds that he would be impeached within six months and 7-4 odds that he wouldn’t finish his first term. These odds are constantly changing and it’s noteworthy that Paddy Power also lost millions as it predicted Hillary Clinton would win the presidency.

Other betting websites like Ladbroke are giving Trump 50/50 odds that he’ll be impeached or resign before his first term ends.  Of course betting websites are not any kind of exact science, but they try to give objective odds of the likelihood of events. It’s interesting that our next President is predicted to not last a full term before he even begins the job.

As a liberal, I’m torn on whether Trump leaving the office would be a good thing. On the one hand, his immature temperament and severe lack of experience makes our country look bad.  The stability of our country and the world will constantly be in flux with Trump leading the way.

On the other hand, Mike Pence follows the rules more, but is a zealot for social conservative ideals. He will work within the system to move our country backwards. Trump’s chaotic nature may prevent him from doing more harm than the more calculating Pence. No matter what happens, liberals will certainly have our work cut out for us over the next four years and beyond.
