Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that his country will be banning single-use plastics as early as 2021.  The final results on what will be banned is still being determined. Things like fast food containers, cotton swabs, and plastic bags could be on the ban list. Studies are trying to determine what would be most helpful and practical to ban.

Justin Trudeau wrote on Twitter:

This is part of a larger initiative in Canada to fight against climate change. The European Union is also hoping to ban single-use plastics by 2021.

Three US states have banned plastic bags, but they are still behind many other states for banning unnecessary plastics. Climate change is here and the environment is already significantly damaged. It’s time for America to step up and join the fight in protecting our planet.

Sadly, there are too many powerful people who benefit from the current state of the world. It’s time like these where I feel pessimistic about humanity’s future. But we must keep fighting while we can.
