Protests against police brutality and racial injustice continue to sweep through America. It’s such a dark time as we are seeing the stress of the pandemic exacerbate existing inequalities. There is so much to comment on, but I wanted to highlight one story that I think will certainly remain in the history books.
Trump was on his way to visit St. John’s church, a short walk away from the White House. By all accounts, the protesters remaining on the sidelines of the path to the church were 100% peaceful. A group of aids and Attorney General William P. Barr checked out the scene shortly before Trump began his walk over.
The orders were then made to shoot tear gas and flash grenades into the crowd peacefully protesting.
Trump then did his brief photo op, gave a short speech, and walked back into the White House. Amazing.
It’s exhausting to watch this all unfold. And again, this is all happening right in the middle of our pandemic.
