Table (Photo credit: Wikipedia) Same stuff, different day. I’ve had enough. Some days are harder than other days. Some days are easier. “There is nothing that surprises me any more.” I say that, even though it’s not true. It’s not true because I am constantly amazed—sputtering with amazement, in fact—at how people are mean to each other, at how people treat each other with contempt, at how people seem to honestly believe that there are some other people who don’t... A photo of 12 Original Glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme. (Photo credit: Wikipedia) I keep thinking of things from previous letters of the alphabet. I actually like doing this series, as it makes me more “proactively thankful.” I’m enjoying the thought process involved with coming up with these lists. At one of the bakeries I where I used to work, my initial job was frying glazed doughnuts. I am diagnosed with manic-depression, which is currently more well known by its... Read more
martyrdom of saint cecilia (Photo credit: Cåsbr) That’s my name, don’t wear it out! I’m really glad my parents chose this name for me, because I love it. I can’t even imagine having another name. Greek for Goddess of the Moon, and another name for Artemis. I always enjoy eating chocolate, singing in a choir and doing crochet. Other things include: I really enjoy the works of Saint Catherine of Siena, and one of my favorite saints is Saint Cecilia.... Read more
Did my civic duty this morning in the local election, so I’m off to a good start. This blog challenge should be interesting, as I’m trying to think of things about myself beginning with the letters of the alphabet for the day. I’m not super fond of what I’ve written on my “About” page, so I’m hoping that, after this project is done, I’ll just link all the posts, and there will be a number of interesting tidbits for people... Portrait of Jane Austen, from the memoir by J. E. Austen-Leigh. All other portraits of Austen are generally based on this, which is itself based on a sketch by Cassandra Austen (Photo credit: Wikipedia) (I’ve already fooled one person twice, and honestly, I didn’t think he was that gullible.) Other things about me that begin with the letter “A” include: I have a problem with ADHD and Acedia (which may, or may not, include depression, depending on which source you... Read more
It’s a lot easier to forget than it is to remember. But it’s a lot more important to remember than it is to forget. At least it is for me. I have a kind of manic-depression (bi-polar, which is a stupid name, frankly) that’s called rapid cycling. That means the time spent wallowing in the valley or shouting on the mountaintop is a lot briefer than it is for most people with the “garden variety” of manic-depression. I usually spend... Joining up with some other ladies to exchange a diet of delights as we share the five favorite things that’ve recently caught our attention. Low key fun all around, and a great way to discover some interesting things. 1. Aussi Instant Freeze Spray My go-to hair spray–this stuff is amazing. They call it Instant Freeze, and they’re not kidding. I really think it could suspend me off the ground. Just sayin’… 2. Knitting Socks I knit. All the time. I... Read more
I’m afraid to dream. I am. This week’s assignment (being shared here) was: Link-up your blog post sharing: What do you really want more of in your life? Will you dare to say it out loud? Hint: it probably means having less of something too {ex: more joy, less stress}. So, for me, it’s pretty basic. I want more confidence that pursuing ANYTHING in the way of a future will not be constantly derailed by depression, OCD or ADHD. Up... Read more
