Range of Reactions towards Same-Sex Blessings and The Pope

Range of Reactions towards Same-Sex Blessings and The Pope December 20, 2023
There was a wide range of reactions towards the Vatican and Pope Francis’ moving to bless same-sex unions, from saying it’s not enough to threats of violence for making any positive move for LGBTQ+ people and their families.  After watching the life-threatening reaction from a loud and hostile minority over Pope Francis’s move to bless same-sex relationships, which I support as a positive step with more to be done, this is another indication that tells me just how serious the threat of Christian Nationalism actually is. I believe that it is a dangerous increasing threat towards anyone who does not strictly align with Christian Nationalism which is most Americans. As a religious person and Catholic who is part of a worldwide Church of all races and many cultures, it’s terrifying for me to now better-understand and comprehend that theocratic authoritarian movements steeped in racism and bigotry have been planned for over five decades, and now they are increasing in various places of the world. In the United States specifically, please Google and review Project 2025 for our specific theocratic authoritarian movement spearheaded by American Christian Nationalists.
We must look at the big picture if we want to save democracy (freedom for all without exception) and our country. Our country has very dark but also good parts of history, but when the founders established our country, the constitution was written as non-sectarian to better-ensure individual freedoms for all Americans regardless of who they were. If you believe that all people are equal and should have the same rights and freedoms as yourself regardless of their religious affiliation, practice, race, or creed, I would find either a civil rights organization, a human rights organization, a religious institution involved with humanitarian practices, or another cause which advocates for human rights and human dignity of all people. As a person who believes in God and that each person bears God’s image, I believe that the growing threats towards historically-marginalized populations are becoming more and more dangerous with each passing day.  For those who also believe this, we will need all hands on-deck, religious and non-religious, working together if we are going to protect everyone’s human rights, human dignity, and our democracy to defeat the growing threat of Christian Nationalism. Countless lives are on the line, particularly those who are being politically-targeted like trans kids.  I believe that anyone who does not align with the Christian Nationalist movement is in an increasing threat of danger. No person should live in fear simply for not politically, religiously, and culturally aligning with those in power.
I list the traits of fascism again derived from Encyclopedia Britannica and the Washington Monthly.
1. sources and capitalizes on economic woes and anxieties
2. shifts political blame on to scapegoat groups like minority groups,
immigrants, and other groups while taking away blame from where it belongs, on the leadership
3. propagates extreme nationalism going hand-in-hand with racism and militarism
4. a melding of church and state when there should be a separation
5. subjugation of women and sexism
6. a disdain for human rights except those of the elite, especially a disdain for those who identify as LGBTQIA+
7. obsession with crime and punishment
8. identification of enemies as a unifying cause for political action
9. disdain for intellectualism, science, history, and the arts
10. control of different types of media, including books
11. rampant cronyism and government corruption
12. attempt to control elections, like through voter suppression
