The Words “Law and Order” Mean Nothing Now

I’m a former lifelong Republican who left the GOP and became a Democrat when Trump came along, and I am a lifelong Christian who is still a Person of Faith but a much more progressive one who shifted further left politically during the Trump era. I have personally met many religious people who have done the same because the MAGA regime goes against the core teaching to love our neighbor as ourselves which every major world religion teaches.

At this late stage, it is boiling down to this in our country. If a 34-count convicted felon and adjudicated rapist can still run a second term for president, can attempt to overturn a free and fair election, can pardon the January 6th insurrectionists, can get away with the Epstein crimes and many other unlawful actions while ICE unlawfully detains, deports, and murders a number of innocent people like Renee Good. If our government can require everyone filling out a job application to answer, “Have you ever been convicted of a felony?,” if this while Trump can invade other countries, blow up boats of innocent people, and break international law, all I can say is the hypocrisy is beyond words at this point. The words “Law and Order” from MAGA Republicans are falling on deaf ears and mean nothing at this point. I make a distinction between old school every day Republicans and MAGA Republicans because they are not the same. As Tim Walz says, “Most Republicans and most Democrats are good people.” I believe that, and I believe most Republicans are not true MAGA Republicans.

The MAGA party of Trump is not the Republican party I grew up with. It has turned into a Hitleresque regime seeking to rip apart and bulldoze anyone who stands in its way while it destroys American democracy and the country I love. I stand with many US citizens and residents, including teachers, healthcare professionals, a number of Veterans, anti-Trump Republicans, Democrats, and Independents who believe in the US constitution which says liberty and justice for all. The US constitution also says ANYONE who resides in the US has the right to due process whether they are citizens or not just as they have the right to emergency medical care whether they are citizens or not. Ronald Reagan signed the emergency medical care for non-citizens into law. This is how far the Republican party has strayed.

I want to say a special word to the Christians who still support this Trump regime. I know Joe Biden had his flaws and was too old to be running (like Trump is too old), but Joe Biden had decency and character unlike Trump who is not decent. I know that Joe Biden is pro-choice as most Christians/Catholics are also pro-choice. Joe Biden was unable to address the border crisis which has been building for decades, but now we have ICE unlawfully detaining, deporting, and killing people without due process. I go to church with mostly Democrats. Please check out James Talarico of Texas if you don’t know who he is. Most Christians or religious people in this country who support Trump are white conservative Christians with rare exception. Over 95% of the Black Christians are Democrats, and many Black pastors are speaking against this horrible MAGA regime and have been warning us for years. I believe we owe the Black Community a debt of gratitude for the freedoms we have today. Only a quarter of Christians in this country still support Trump. This is reality. Trump is not the savior of the world. He is a conman, a felon, and a danger to our country and the world now. Please wake up!
