January 2015 Planetary Illuminations astrological forecast December 31, 2014

January 2015 astrologyHappy New Year to my dear readers!  I’ve posted the January report a day early and you can read the report in its entirety here at this link.

If you are on my mailing list you will receive your monthly newsletter with a translation from the complex astrologese into a more simplified version that is easy to understand.  If you are not yet on my mailing list please sign up in the sidebar.  Meanwhile, here are the main astrological events for January:

December’s astrology brought the sixth of seven stations in the planetary cycle involving Uranus and Pluto (please note the article about this cycle in the sidebar if this is new to you).  We are in the waning period of this cycle now – the major breakdowns have occurred and readjustment and realignment continues to be necessary to help us to create new structures to support our lives and assist us in our personal evolution in this time of global transformation.  There will be one final collision between these two planets in March of 2015 which will serve to push us one more time in the direction of change where further change is needed.

Saturn has just moved into Sagittarius where it will remain for about three years, and you can read more about that here and in the sidebar.  Expect challenges to your belief systems and ideologies (Sagittarius) during this time, but this is an excellent period for readjusting the ways in which you bring those belief systems into form through ritual and regular practice (Saturn). My biggest caveat for this period is to avoid the kind of overconfidence that Sagittarius can bring, since Saturn’s job is to burst any bubble that has grown beyond the boundaries of the practical.

Uranus, planet of radical change and energetic shifts, conjoins the South Node throughout the month.  The South Node is the point that marks our emergence from the past, and planets that trigger the South Node often bring about resolution of past issues.  This could bring dreams and memories of past lives that emerge to be handled and released, and it could also create some radical changes in relationships and people with whom you share a personal history.

Mercury will turn retrograde on January 21st, and the shadow period will begin about a week before as Mercury begins to slow down in preparation for its change of direction.  Preparing for this 3-4 week cycle can help avoid some problems during this cycle (for example, if you know you will need a new phone or computer order it before this cycle begins) but it’s a good idea to expect glitches anyway.  Retrograde Mercury can create some problems in the outer world but brings opportunities for a rich inner experience if we spend more time turning within during this period than trying to manifest in the outer world.
