Here’s why I love India: The judgment will be met with relief in India, where engagements are decided, wedding and election dates are chosen on the basis of detailed charts drawn up by revered astrologers. A day deemed “auspicious” by an astrologer can lead to thousands of weddings and traffic gridlock. For years it has been dismissed by the world’s scientists, but according to the Bombay High Court astrologers are officially their colleagues. The ruling was made in a case... Read more

From Space.com: A duo of planetary astronomers has grabbed media attention by claiming a planet four times the size of Jupiter may be lurking in the outer solar system. They call the planet Tyche. Many astronomers, however, say it probably isn’t there. The claim by John Matese and Daniel Whitmire of the University of Lousiana-Lafayette is not new: They have been making a case for Tyche since 1999, suggesting that the giant planet’s presence in a far-flung region of solar system called... Read more

Today has the potential to be filled with passion and love with Venus still within range of a conjunction to Pluto.  Venus rules our relationships with others and the way that we connect with each other, and Venus is in the exceedingly practical sign of Capricorn right now.   In Capricorn, Venus has the discipline to remember to send flowers, and to organize a beautiful date for the loved one. Pluto is the planet of intensity and depth, and in... Read more

Tem Tarriktar of The Mountain Astrologer posted a chart of the resignation on Facebook yesterday which you can read here with all of the associated comments.  A link to the actual announcement on Egyptian TV was posted which includes a time stamp of 6:02 pm Cairo time so that is the chart that I have used.  Another commenter reports that Al Jazeera’s live blog of the events in Egypt reveals that Mubarak actually turned over the reins to the vice-president... Read more

One of the things we have to look forward to with the entry of Uranus into Aries is a new surge of radical and revolutionary freedom fighters (Uranus) who seek power for the individual (Aries).  The word “anarchy” is derived from the Greek word “anarchos” which means “without rulers,” and “anarchy” is usually defined as “a state of lawlessness resulting from a failure of government.” When Uranus in Aries brings its freedom fighters to conflict with the concentration of power... Read more

Perhaps it’s just a “coincidence,” but last week as Chiron (the “wounded healer”) entered the sign of Pisces (spirituality and the soul) one of my favorite podcasts, the People’s Pharmacy, broadcast an interview with Dr.  Allan Hamilton called The Scalpel and the Soul.  Dr. Hamilton has written a book called The Scalpel and the Soul: Encounters with Surgery, The Supernatural, and the Healing Power of Hope. It’s unusual to find an established medical professional talking about the supernatural and healing... Read more

Most of the planets in our solar system travel through the zodiac (from our perspective here on earth) at approximately the same rate of speed, no matter what sign they are traveling through.  The Sun takes about 30 days to go through each sign; Saturn takes approximately 26-28 months to go through a sign. Chiron and Pluto both have elliptical orbits from our perspective on earth, so their travel through the twelve signs of the zodiac is more erratic.  Here... Read more

Here is an interesting African study from 1997 that correlated astrological data to schizophrenia.  The findings are particularly interesting in light of the recent shootings in Arizona by Jared Loughner who is now widely believed to be schizophrenic. Some astrological hypotheses related to predisposition to severe mental illness were tested by analysing the zodiacal signs, the interactions between planetary qualities (aspects), and the occurrence of full and new moon dates, on the dates of birth of 221 schizophrenics, compared with... Read more

February is a short but mighty month that brings us a big alignment of six planets in Aquarius (seven if you include Ceres).  You can read the whole article at this link, but here is an introduction to get you started.  I’ll be posting a more complete article on the New Moon tomorrow. If you are not already a subscriber to my newsletter, please sign up in the sidebar.  You’ll receive a monthly translation of Skywatch into English each month... Read more

Universe Today reports that a storm on Saturn has turned into a monster storm, at least ten earths’ wide. Saturn has exhibited storms before, and I wrote about the one in 2006 here, but the current storm is so huge that it is visible with the naked eye.   In my article linked above, I wrote about political activity that coincided with the earlier Saturn storms in 1994.   During the Saturn storm in 2006 there were mudslides, stampedes and... Read more
