Fight To Kill

I ‘ve been in fights over girls, because I wouldn’t back down after being challenged, to defend strangers, because people I cared about were fighting alone, because I said something I shouldn’t have, and because the referee said, “Fight!” And the biggest lesson I’ve learned is this: don’t ever fight unless you are willing to kill the other person, if necessary.

On the face of this, it may seem like overly-violent bravado. But it is actually a caution against needless violence. You cannot know:

  1. How stable the other person is, mentally;
  2. If they are armed, highly trained, or both; and/or
  3. What kind of craziness might happen along the lines of others jumping in, or other shenanigans.

Let’s say you get angry with someone for disrespecting your homegirl. You are angry, your arm candy is offended, and you want to put a punk in his place. So you grab him by his Baby Gap Smedium collar, intending to scare him into respect, nothing more. You certainly don’t want him to die. But he freaks out and pulls a knife on you. Now a quick scuffle has become a life-and-death situation. To get out of this alive, you may have to kill him.

Never get in a fight unless you are willing to kill the other person, if necessary.
