The Agony in the Garden

The Agony in the Garden February 15, 2019

And his sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground.

Luke 22:44
Father, if thou wilt, remove this chalice from me: but yet not my will, but thine be done.

Jesus is God. Jesus is man.

Full stop each time.

As God, he knew that his Holy Sacrifice was imminent. As man, it was painful to feel abandoned by his friends, Father, the people he came to save…everyone. Wrenched with gut-twisting agony, he did something amazing. He prayed through it. Did it get easier? No. In fact he began to bleed through his sweat glands from the stress of it. But the angels assigned to Jesus attended him and he persevered.

God, we ask that when we are lonely, conflicted, and abandoned, you help us remember that you are in charge. Send the Holy Spirit and your angels down and remind us that Even Jesus prayed to get through difficult times. In union with the prayers of all the Heavenly Host, we pray this through Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit to God, the Father. Amen.
