The Nativity of Christ

The Nativity of Christ

And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the people.

We are wretched. Floundering in our sin and hubris. God sent angels, floods, plagues, prophets, judges, kings, more prophets, and finally St. John The Baptist. Still, we persisted. Then the Heavenly Gloves came off and God’s very own (but way better) Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch Bethlehem was lobbed down from heaven:

Jesus Christ was born to a virgin in a manger in a backwater town.

Old Boy Satan went into a frenzy. Started killing babies in overdrive. Sent the Holy Family on the run. But God stacked the deck. Heck, God created the deck, the game, the table, and the scoreboard.

Holy Immortal One, as we recognize that your infinity means that your Son is being born always and forever, bless us with the tranquility and blessings of the Nativity creche every day. May the joy of our Lord’s birth be apparent on our faces at all times. We pray this through the angels and saints, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
