Bruce’s Friday Five v4.20

Bruce’s Friday Five v4.20 2012-06-07T08:26:38-07:00

My Friday Five is somewhat of a mishmash of stuff I have recently seen around the interwebs, some of which I actually kept track of and others, I just remembered upon the writing of this post. Enjoy.

ONE | Like so many of you, I have wanted the silver bullet of organization systems to keep my to do list in some organized form. I have tried online systems like Remember the Milk as well as the paper system, Franklin Covey, but none have done the job. With a humble nod to my wife who has been tracking her life in a composition book for years, I’m going back to the tried and true pen and paper system with a Whitelines Hard Bound A5 Lined Notebook.

TWO | I will never ever be accused of being on the cutting edge of the music scene. Heck, if I were the world’s DJ, on WBRC we would all be listening to a constant rotation of Wham, New Edition, Debbie Gibson and Michael Jackson. Shut-up 🙂 That said, occasionally in my travels I have the chance to hear about groups that are starting to make a bit of splash. Check out this Seattle band, Posse and if they make it big, you can say that you heard it from me 😉 Interweb links: facebook | twitter | reverbnation |  ItunesSpotifyAmazon

THREE | If you are a Hunger Games fan you should be reading the blog Hunger Games Tweets where you’ll find some great commentary on the race controversy as well as some other interesting conversations. You might also want to pick up Julie Clawson’s ebook, The Hunger Games and the Gospel: Bread, Circuses, and the Kingdom of God. And if you are NOT a Hunger Games fan, my tween middle child may not be able to look you in the eye.

FOUR | For some reason I have been having a bunch of conversations lately about the legalization and use of marijuana. I am one of those who tends to lean towards legalization and regulation like alcohol and cigarettes, but by no means has this been a huge passion of mine. So for the record, while I was doing a bit of  wine tasting this past week, this particular variety was not on the list. And no, today’s date did not go unnoticed.

FIVE | When I am around certain people, I tend to swear much . . . much . . . much more than usual. While I do experience a little catharsis with a well-placed F-bomb, because I don’t want, “Dad, you are an effing idiot!” echoed back to me by my daughters, my language is generally pretty PG. What about you, “Do your kids swear more than you did?”
