The First Black Female Rabbi!

The First Black Female Rabbi! May 22, 2009

Talk about teaching old dogs new tricks.

CNN reports, that Alysa Stanton will next month walk into history:

She’ll become the first African-American woman ever to be ordained as a rabbi and the first African-American rabbi to lead a majority white congregation, according to the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.

Stanton grew up in a Pentecostal home and like most kids rebelled in college. However, instead of binge drinking, she converted to Judaism.

Wow! Just Wow. There may be hope yet. 🙂
