Another Product Recommendation–Counting Cars

Another Product Recommendation–Counting Cars August 8, 2010

On Friday I ventured to the the local Lakeshore Learning Store in search of some “school” toys for my 2 year old Gus.  I am putting the finishing touches on school year planning for the fall of 2010, and I learned last year that occupying my 2 year old is a huge key to successful homeschooling.  One of my many techniques–put aside special “school” toys that he can play with when the bigger kids are doing school.  It was with this in mind that I went shopping.

And I came across these:

I don’t normally spend $24 on plastic car toys for my toddler (they were 20% off the $30 price), but Gus loves vehicles, he will play for hours with trucks and cars, lining them up and pushing them all around the room.  When I saw they were color coordinated with detachable drivers, and each car and driver was numbered from 1-10, I felt like I hit the jackpot.  Gus hasn’t picked up basic counting and letters like my older two kids, and so the reinforcement of numbered cars seemed perfect.  I couldn’t resist the temptation to get these toys out and let him play with them immediately, and about an hour later he was identifying numbers correctly!  Now my only issue is keeping all ten cars located (we are already missing one driver and car).
