I hope that you are planning to spend some time with your family this weekend celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday and the Beatification of John Paul II.
Here are a couple of resources:
A Cute Book about John Paul II, which also promotes vocations to the religious life
Live coverage on EWTN
Glory Stories on Saint Faustina (children’s radio broadcast, we love these for the car)
In honor of John Paul II, you and your family might begin to pray the Luminous mysteries of the Rosary, if you don’t already do so. I only added these to my prayer routine a few years ago, but I love them, and they really help to complete the scriptural sense of the Rosary meditations. For the children (and for me), praying the full cycle of mysteries of the rosary over the course of several days really keeps the life of Christ present, it is like a bible study in prayer. Check out these great Luminous Mystery Coloring pages.
++++++Edited to add a new, wonderful resource I just found, a free Unit Study on John Paul the Second by Maureen Wittman of mater et magistra magazine. This is chock full of ideas and can be done by homeschoolers or regular folks as a supplement. It is not too late to start, you could watch the beatification and then study JPII. What a blessing he is, a saint for our age.
