I’m a big Seinfeld fan but I’ve only seen a little bit of Curb Your Enthusiasm and have been completely underwhelmed by it. But I just stumbled across this clip of Jason Alexander schooling Larry David on how to play George Costanza (the character based on Larry David and played by Jason Alexander on Seinfeld) and found it a fascinating meta sort of experience. It clarifies for me how much Seinfeld’s genius was not in its theater of banal absurdity itself (something Curb Your Enthusiasm has retained) but the talented cast’s, er, enthusiasm (which in the follow up show is all, well, curbed).
Your Thoughts?
