The Catholic Tradition of Contemplative Prayer: Insights from the Saints
“A Way to Grow Closer to God”
Carl’s talk, based on his book Answering the Contemplative Call, will celebrate the tradition of silent prayer that begins with the Bible and extends throughout the history of Catholic Christianity. This is not a prayer tradition just for monks and nuns — it is for the entire people of God. Carl will draw on his experience as a Catholic layman as well as a Lay Cistercian of the Our Lady of the Holy Spirit to make this ancient prayer practice accessible for all people. Books will be available for purchase and autographing by Carl.
The day begins at 8:30 AM with the Rosary, followed by Mass at 9 AM. Carl’s presentation begins at 10 AM. Please bring a bag lunch; beverages will be provided.
To register, mail a check for $15 to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3740 Holtzclaw Road, Cumming GA 30041, attention Karen Smith, FSBC. Register early: admission is $20 the day of the event.
