Wisdom of the Christian Mysteries: Julian of Norwich

January 25, 2014 @ 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Come enjoy a Saturday morning devoted to the practice of Christian contemplative prayer as outlined in the 14th century mystical masterpiece, The Revelation of Divine Love by Julian of Norwich. This medieval visionary/contemplative celebrated the power of Divine Love to foster healing and inner transformation, through prayer, trust and hope.

This is the second of three scheduled Saturday events exploring the wisdom of the Christian mystics. Combining sacred stories, guided meditation, prayer, and contemplation, this series of “Quiet Days” will immerse you into the wisdom and practices of contemplative Christianity. With an emphasis on experience rather than doctrine, our focus will be to live the Christian mysteries, not just talk about them. Each Saturday will feature the wisdom and teachings of one or two of the great Christian mystics, looking at how their spiritual guidance can foster real inner transformation for us today. These programs are suitable for Christians at all levels of knowledge or familiarity with spiritual practice, and are also open to people of all faiths. A third event will take place on March 8, 2014 (Teresa of Avila). Save the date!

The program facilitator is Carl McColman, author of Answering the Contemplative Call and The Big Book of Christian Mysticism. He received training in the practice of contemplative spirituality at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation. He is a Lay Cistercian of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit, under the spiritual guidance of the Trappist monks at the monastery in Conyers, GA. Carl blogs about spirituality at www.carlmccolman.com.
