ELSEWHERE: Russia Becoming the Rightwing Dictatorship That Never Was

Most of the villains of the 20th century were animated by – or were cynical manipulators of – rational progressive ideologies, a phenomenon of the left.  The Russian legislature, the State Duma, just passed some pretty strict measures that ban “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations.” That would empty the newsstands in this country. This comes on the heels of a law that makes it illegal to offend religious feelings.
