“I Love It” by Icona Pop feat. Charlie XCX

This song expresses a love for youthful reckless abandon with no sense of mortality. One who cannot see beyond the fleeting emotions of the moment and connect to the infinite through a God who promises eternity.

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your stuff into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.

I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care.

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your stuff into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.

I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care.

You’re on a different road, I’m in the Milky Way
You want me down on earth, but I am up in space
You’re so d*** hard to please, we gotta kill this switch
You’re from the 70’s, but I’m a 90’s chick

I love it!
I love it!

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your s*** into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.

I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care, I love it, I love it.
I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care.

You’re on a different road, I’m in the Milky Way
You want me down on earth, but I am up in space
You’re so d*** hard to please, we gotta kill this switch
You’re from the 70’s, but I’m a 90’s chick

I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care, I love it, I love it.
I don’t care, I love it.
I don’t care, I love it, I love it.
I don’t care.
I love it.

“Sail into the Sun” by Gentlemen Hall

A fun upbeat song with lyrics that shine as bright as the music.

I’ll take the sun and watch it surround you
All of the rain will follow all around you
And I, I’ll pull you closer when you’re floating far away
And I, don’t need no reason we’ll just get away
When we sail into the sun into the sun
Sail into the sun into the sun
I’ll make the clouds a carpet and canopy
Won’t touch the ground
I’ll stay up here just you and me
And I, I’ll pull you closer when you’re floating far away
And I, don’t need no reason we’ll just get away
And we sail into the sun into the sun

“Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service

This decade-old one-off Ben Gibbard side project reformed recently to tour the country. Having found the seemingly perfect in another human being, Gibbard pines for his love comparing the relationship to Adam and Eve. However what is missing are the messy bits of sin that will creep into any human relationship.

I am thinking it’s a sign that the freckles
In our eyes are mirror images and when
We kiss they’re perfectly aligned
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay
And true, it may seem like a stretch, but
Its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
Head when you’re away when I am missing you to death
When you are out there on the road for
Several weeks of shows and when you scan
The radio, I hope this song will guide you home

They will see us waving from such great
Heights, ‘come down now,’ they’ll say
But everything looks perfect from far away,
‘come down now,’ but we’ll stay…

I tried my best to leave this all on your
Machine but the persistent beat it sounded
Thin upon listening
And that frankly will not fly. You will hear
The shrillest highs and lowest lows with
The windows down when this is guiding you home

“Fred Astaire” by San Cisco

The true misconception here is that conventional love requires continuous adventure, romance, and love. It is the simple and mundane parts of life which deepen the love of marriage.

Well, of course I miss you baby
I’ve been thinking lately
That you don’t need me anymore
You’d be better with Fred Astaire
He could take you anywhere
If you ask him to

And God knows
That it’s a common misconception
That I’m the only one for you
And I can take you out for breakfast
But he could take you ’round the world

Fred Astaire’s the man for you

Well, he could buy you a diamond ring
Or he could get you anything
If you ask him to
He probably knows how to dance
And he could fly you to France
And you could do it all night long

And God knows
That it’s a common misconception
That I’m the only one for you
And I can take you out for breakfast
But he could take you ’round the world

Fred Astaire’s the man for you

And God knows
That it’s a common misconception
That I’m the only one for you
And I can take you out for breakfast
But he could take you ’round the world

Fred Astaire’s the man for you

“I Am a God” by Kanye West

Kanye claims to be a man of God but also wants to be a god himself. Sure we might not proclaim it as brazenly as Kanye but when we follow our own paths instead of God’s are we aren’t declaring the same thing?

Blazin, mi don’t want dem
Mi need dem
Blazin
Suh mi tek har outta bugah red and put her in a tall skirt
And now she find out what life is really worth
No to X rated
Yo mi tek har outta bugah red and put her in a tall skirt
And now she find out what life is really worth
No to X rated

I am a god
I am a god
I am a god

I am a god
Hurry up with my d*** massage
Hurry up with my d*** ménage
Get the Porsche out the d*** garage
I am a god
Even though I’m a man of God
My whole life in the hands of God
So y’all better quit playing with God

Soon as they like you make ’em unlike you
Cause kissing people a** is so unlike you
The only rapper compared to Michael
So here’s a few hating-a** n***** who’ll fight you
And here’s a few snake-a** n***** to bite you
And I don’t even wanna hear ’bout what n***** might do
Old n***** mentally still in high school
Since the tight jeans they never liked you
Pink-a** polos with a f****** backpack
But everybody know you brought real rap back
Nobody else had swag, man, we the Rat Pack
Virgil Pyrex, Don C snapback
Ibn diamond, Chi-town shining
Monop’ in this b****, get a change of climate
Hop in this b**** and get the same thing I’m in
Until the day I get struck by lightning

I am a god
So hurry up with my d*** massage
In a French-a** restaurant
Hurry up with my d*** croissants
I am a god
I am a god
I am a god

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I just talked to Jesus
He said, “What up Yeezus?”
I said, “S*** I’m chilling
Trying to stack these millions”
I know he the most high
But I am a close high
Mi casa, su casa
That’s that cosa nostra
I am a god
I am a god
I am a god

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Ain’t no way I’m giving up. I’m a god
