Wear a Name Tag

Wear a Name Tag
You know what I hear a lot as pastor of The Church at West Franklin?
This: “I love this church because it reminds me of home.”
And this: “I love this church because it is a lot like family.”
And this: “I love this church because it seems so warm and inviting.”
And this: “I don’t want to introduce myself because I probably should know them.”
And this: “What if they have been attending for a while and I just don’t know it?”
And this: “I wish there was a way we could know everybody.”
If I have heard these phrases (or a rendition) once, I have heard them a hundred times.
The Church at West Franklin isn’t a large church.
The Church at West Franklin isn’t a small church.
The Church at West Franklin is one of those “in-between” churches. We feel like a family and want to act like a family, but it’s impossible to know everyone’s name. With two morning services, on and off campus LIFE groups, new people attending, and more people moving to Williamson County – this can be tricky.
How do you keep the family-vibe while still growing?
Two words: Name. Tags.
That person you meet at the coffee pot every week but don’t know his name? Problem solved.
The person you should probably know but cannot recall who they are? Fixed.
The person you just met and as you begin to walk away blank on what they just said? Issue over.
The lady who watches your kid every week for an hour while you worship -the one you have called “ma’am” for too long? Relief is here.
