The Best Albums of 2019

The Best Albums of 2019 December 2, 2019

As promised, here’s a “best albums of 2019” list for your listening pleasure. If you’re playlist isn’t completely full of Christmas albums, consider these. Then add your own recommendations in the comments.

Bodega – Shiny New Model (the perfect mix of punk, drone, dance, and new)

Sudan Archives – Athena (such a unique sound, it moves the bar)

LCD Soundsystem – Electric Lady Sessions (James Murphy is always on high repeat, especially when writing)

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Ghosteen (can never get enough of the lyrics and sound of Nick Cave)

Billie Eilish – WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO? (on the pop radio, and also just awesome)

Miranda Lambert – Wildcard (increasingly, I’m finding country that I like, and this is one)

p.s. Also go watch the Kacey Musgraves Christmas Special on Amazon +

The Comet Is Coming – The Afterlife (metaphysical nujazz)

Ezra Collective – You Can’t Steal My Joy (21st jazz that moves into Afrobeat and more)

John Dieterich & Mary Halverson – A Tangle of Stars (always her ownself, and now with Dieterich)

Gary Clarke Jr. – This Land (this is the blues that crosses into other genres that I love)

TOOL – Fear Inoculum (we’ve waited forever for new TOOL, and this does not disappoint)
