This beautiful girl, Yusra Mardini (18) escaped Syria. Her dinghy’s motor stopped working while they were traveling from Turkey to Greece after only 30 minutes in the water. She, her younger sister and another woman were the only ones on the boat that could swim. They jumped out of the boat and swam 3 1/2 hours in the cold water – saving everyone. Yusra is now training with the Refugee Olympic Team which will compete under the Olympic flag in Rio. Make sure to watch out for her when the swim competition begins!
