Army Reserve 2nd Lieutenant, Sam Kendricks, is a US pole vaulter from Millington, Tennessee. Watch Sam’s reaction when he hears the National Anthem just as he’s sprinting down the lane and attempting a vault. It’s priceless. (If you wonder why he’s looking distraught, it’s because he cannot locate the American flag in order to face it). Those in the military (not in uniform) stand at attention when the National Anthem is played (civilians stand with their hand over their hearts while those in uniform salute).

Hat’s off to this guy who loves the USA and serves with all his heart. And by the way…he took home the bronze!!

Click “CONTINUE” to see decorated sprinter Usain Bolt pause mid-interview to honor the US National Anthem (and he’s Jamaican!).
