A Couple of Hopes (The Color of Life)

A Couple of Hopes (The Color of Life) February 2, 2019

This last week, marketing passed along endorser images to me. With The Color of Life releasing in just a couple of days, I’ve pretty much been reduced to a ball of emotions, good for nothing but singing “Shark Attack” with my four-year old and reading Ultimate Body-Pedia over and over again with my six-year old …which is exactly what I should be doing right now anyway.

After all, my book is just another book – but it’s just another book that I hope helps people learn how to color outside of the lines. It’s just another book that I hope brings a little bit of healing to a broken and divided world. And it’s just another book that I hope ushers in conversations of justice and helps break down whitewashed walls of injustice, one hard-earned word at a time.

There’s not a whole lot left for me to do at this point but just let it do its thing …and also thank you for being a part of this journey.

As I leave you with words from a few of the endorsers, might their thoughts become a prayer for the rest of us – and might their thoughts be a prayer for the power of love helping every single one of us see color.

From Patricia Raybon, author of My First White Friend:

From Ken Wytsma, author of The Myth of Equality:

From Jer Swigart, co-author of Mending the Divides:

From Vivian Mabuni, author of Warrior in Pink:

So, what do you say? Will you pray and hope these words along with me?

I’m grateful for you, dear readers, and be sure to join me back here on Tuesday for a video from me to you. In the meantime, here’s to coloring outside of the lines, always.
