A reminder of what ails us

A reminder of what ails us

Sometimes I get the feeling that a growing number of Christians believe that Jesus is not so much the Way, Truth and Life, as much as any old truth claim, pathway or lifestyle inexplicably leads to the Father with or without Jesus.  A secular nation?  Atheist nation?  Buddhist nation?  Muslim nation?  Eh.  One’s as good as another.  Well, to hear some, any are better than one based on Christianity!

Against this tendency, Rebecca Hamilton at The National Catholic Register reminds us that there is only one empty tomb, and therefore there is only one final way out of our troubles.   This isn’t to say those outside the Faith can’t be brought to salvation through Christ.  Nor is it to say other traditions have nothing to offer.  It is to say that we’re wrong when we suggest that one faith tradition is as good as another, whether for national or spiritual well-being.
