Four thousand holes in Blackburn Lancashire

According to John Lennon.  According to the Church of England, there are 10,000 churchyards with trees, and it’s time to find out how many.  I had to chuckle.  Talk about paperwork.  Any pastor who has ever served – and this cuts across denominational lines – knows you almost need an MBA in order to serve as pastor.  Goodness knows you never want for nuts and bolts administration.  Even though you want to be about prayer and ministry and teaching the Word, you inevitably end up sitting in on the ongoing finance committees.  I had to think about that and think of the individuals who were behind this one.  Though counting trees in England does have a Tolkien-ish feel about it, I’ll give you that.
