OK. It’s not like we didn’t see it coming, and it isn’t as if the DNC didn’t pull out the stops to make sure it happened. In a nod to the political machines of old, the DNC obviously was about supporting this outcome. Not that any of that matters. More than anything it matters that a Type has won the nomination. After all, what would Sanders have been? Historically old? BTW, remember how during the 1980, 1984, 1992, 1996, and 2008 elections the Democrats not too subtly made old age a liability? Of course that was yesterday’s truth, one of the best weapons in the progressive arsenal.
But old Bernie? Socialist Bernie? Could that have had the same impact as Hillary the first woman president? I don’t know. His culture of death roots were kept under wraps to the point where he had to step forward and boast about them during debates where the moderators seemed reluctant to bring up the subject. There just wasn’t anything that Sanders brought to the modern movement of Types that helped. Despite the media’s overtime reporting on the unparalleled awesomeness of America today, most Americans get the feeling all isn’t right in the world. With that feeling, keeping the same party in power won’t be easy. It’s a testimony to Hillary’s reputation and the struggles of the country under the current administration that a train wreck like Trump is polling in double digits, much less giving Hillary a run for her money. Not that it will mean anything in the end. Despite her ocean liner’s worth of baggage, Hillary has that powerful ‘Type’, that category that will help her in the campaign and as she begins her presidency. Just as we learned that opposition to almost every Obama policy or initiative was the result of racism, I’m sure the next four years will root out all those sexists who only oppose Ms. Clinton due to their misogyny. It’s a clever tactic, and one that has worked like a charm so far.
