Well done Ted Cruz

I was never a Ted Cruz fan.  Truth be told, I would have voted for his wife before him.  There just is something about him.  Something that comes off as abrasive.  It reminded me of Ron Reagan,  son of President Reagan, reflecting on his dad’s easy personality.  Had Nixon, for instance, said to Gorbachev at Geneva what Reagan said, we’d  probably have had WWIII.  But Reagan could say it.  Nixon couldn’t.  And I don’t think Cruz could either.  There is something about his personality that suggests he could start a fist fight over pizza toppings.

Still, I appreciate what he did last night, and why he said he did it this morning.  Yes, he made a pledge.  But he made a pledge with a room full of adults that we assumed would conduct themselves within the boundaries of basic human decency.  Attack Cruz all you want.  Call him out.  Lambaste him for his stances.  But when you launch personal, demeaning and insulting attacks against hist family, against his wife, then all bets are off.  I don’t blame him a bit.
