Vice-presidential hopeful Tim Kaine said he thinks the Catholic Church will eventually change and catch up with his morality. I wouldn’t bet on it. That’s not to say the Church won’t succumb to the pressure to accommodate gay marriage. At least in the short term. It won’t be able to just change its teaching, however, and the Sacrament of Marriage will, by definition, continue to center around the traditional Man and Woman setup.
Nonetheless, Mr. Kaine is free to dream the dream of the progressive. I just wouldn’t hold my breath.
