Why I didn’t vote for Trump

Why I didn’t vote for Trump November 15, 2016

Because I tend to lean conservative on most – not all, but most – issues, given the nature of my faith.  And there was nothing about Trump, his life, his beliefs, his past that suggested he was anything close to conservative.  In fact, as I sometimes said, the big difference between Trump and Hillary was that one was a far left liberal, and the other a Democrat.  Though if we remember, it wasn’t too long ago that Trump wore that second label rather proudly, too.

My guess is that his announcement that all the rigmarole about gay marriage was a farce will be one of many.  I’m sure most thinking people knew that all of his bluster about building a wall and making Mexico pay had all the plausibility of me insisting I can take out LeBron James in a game of one-on-one. Much of his other bluster was on about the same level.

With that said, we can hope he was just as serious regarding some of his more careless talk about nukes and when to use them and the glory of warfare.  Trying to put a positive spin on it, let’s hope he has no more intention of carrying through on those boasts than he likely will about many of his other, more outlandish promises.  That means, in the end, the Trump presidency will probably look nothing like what people expected.  And given some of the rhetoric, that might not be too bad.
