Not always Trump

Jonah Goldberg explains.  There are many reasons for cheering because the Left got a bloody nose this year.  After all, as I have argued incessantly, most of what the Left screamed at Trump for doing and saying has been done and said by different people on the Left for decades.  At least in some manner or another.

Nonetheless, this does not take away the concerns about Trump.  It does not take away from the fact that much of what Trump does and says are the things that conservatives have criticized the Left for doing and saying for decades.

True, the Left deserved a swat in the nose with a rolled up newspaper.  If those to the left of center have any sense, they’ll stop the fussing and crying and acting like children.  They’ll look in the mirror, and say, ‘Gee, maybe we need to learn something about where we’ve been going these last years.’  We’ll see.

But in the meantime, this doesn’t mean Trump should be given a blank check.  Those who figure if Trump embraces Communism, then they’re’ all behind him because Trump!, will be no better than the ones they fought against for decades.  Some might argue they will be worse.
