Another brief hiatus

Another brief hiatus 2017-03-17T08:05:31-04:00

It’s midterm time here at Griffey academy.  That means I’ll be busy for a few days grading exams and midterm reports and, of course, seeing how quickly my bracket collapses.

Plus it’s St. Patrick’s day weekend!  St. Patrick is our youngest’s middle name and saint; and our third son picked him as his patron saint when we became Catholic.   Along with St. Francis, St. Patrick loomed large in my appreciation for historic Catholicism.

Since part of my family comes from County Sligo, and we have multiple strains of Irish in our blood (plus some Welsh, Scottish, and in an awesome twist, American Indian), we’re planning quite the celebration this weekend.  It starts with Scotch Eggs for weekend breakfast and goes down from there.

I’ll be back to posting next week, after everything is done and obligatory hours spent at the gym burning off the calories.  I’ll try to keep up with comments as I can.

Till then,

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields

and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

UPDATE:  Well that didn’t last long!  NORTHWESTERN???    They’ve never gone.  That wasn’t even one of my tough choices.  I assumed that would be a freebie, with others being a tougher choice.  Oh well.  There’s always next year.
