Pro-life group blames abortion on Robin Williams suicide August 13, 2014

I really didn’t want to do another post about Robin Williams, I think a lot has been written about him that doesn’t need to be said again, but there is something else going on that I find absolutely disgusting.

The religious right is attempting to pin any “liberal” agenda issue on Williams suicide, and I am not even talking about the idiocy that came out of Rush Limbaugh’s mouth yesterday.

The pro-life site Life News published a piece on Tuesday titled, “Robin Williams: Abortion of His Unborn Child May Have Added to Struggle With Depression,” in which what I can only imagine is a brain dead author attempted to, without evidence, link Williams suicide with a past abortion.

Now this comes as a shocker because I was unaware that Williams was even able to have an abortion, but low and behold the articles author Kevin Burke was referencing a biography about Williams in which it states the actor and his girlfriend had an abortion because they were both too young.

“Is there a relationship between Robin William’s descent into drug addiction and depression that began in the 1970’s and his past abortion?” Burke wrote.

Baseless claims seem abound in Burke’s piece as he follows up with an imagined “underlying reference” to Williams’s behavior based on this quote:

“You know, I was shameful… You do stuff that causes disgust, and that’s hard to recover from. You can say, ‘I forgive you’ and all that stuff, but it’s not the same as recovering from it.”

Except this 2008 quote is in reference to Williams’s embracement about his actions when drinking, Burke himself has decided it is about abortion.

The nerve of someone like Burke to join the ranks of the idiot elite, to use the death of a celebrity in an attempt to push their pathetic agenda is outstanding.

The discussion being had and that should be had is about depression and the seriousness of it and how we can de-stigmatize the mental illness and help those in need.

Williams’s death can mean something if it finally gets a conversation started that we as a nation seem too afraid to start. Don’t let opportunists like this distort his death into a political agenda.
