According to a report on Pink News, the entire staff of the Decatur County clerk’s office in Tennessee has resigned over same-sex marriage, claiming they did so for the “glory of God.”

They are the only county clerk’s office in Tennessee that is refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses. And the real kicker is, they haven’t even been asked to issue any such licenses.

Clerk Gwen Pope and her employees Sharon Bell and Mickey Butler stated that they will resign over the Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states, but the clerks claim they are not doing so for publicity.

Pope told the Jackson Sun, “It’s kind of like you don’t want to draw attention to yourself for any reason. That’s not why we’re doing this. Not doing it in any way to draw attention to us.

“It’s for the glory of God. He’s going to get all the glory.”

Right, you are not doing it to draw attention to yourselves, but are doing so even though you have never been asked to issue a single license.

Well I say good riddance. If you are a public servant and refuse to follow the laws, you have no business being in that job.
