Catholic priest claims that same-sex couples offer nothing to society September 25, 2015

Catholics are getting pissed that non-Catholics seem to like Pope Francis. I have made my distaste for him clear, but I do enjoy watching these lunatics lose their minds.

I have touched on the hateful bigotry of Catholic priest Dwight Longenecker in the past, and no, I will not address him as “father,” as I already have a father and he isn’t a homophobic asshole.

Longenecker has a new post in which he thinks the Pope has 5 “zingers” for both conservatives and liberals and for the most part they are just a juvenile attempt to reel the Pope back in from all of those that seem to think of him as progressive.

But Longenecker wants to really drive the point home that Pope Francis is against same-sex marriage and goes as far as to actually insult same-sex families and proclaim they offer nothing to society.

2. The Pope is Against Same Sex Marriage – Be honest. You think gay people have the right to be married, but do you really think gay marriage helps build up the family and strengthens human society? If so, in what way exactly? It is possible to be against same sex marriage without being bigots and haters. Do you really need to impose this redefinition of marriage on everyone? Even against their religious convictions? Is that how you envision freedom? Have you ever thought that the kind of marriage the pope supports (between one man and one woman for life) is what actually what defines marriage? Pope Francis is merely pointing out that gay “marriage” is a contradiction in terms. It’s like saying “car without wheels”.

So, he asks if it is possible to be against same-sex marriage and not be a bigot. The answer is no. Dwight Longenecker is a bigot, he has made this obvious.

But do I think same-sex couples strengthen society? Yes, I do! Because I think all families that offer loving homes, food, shelter, education, etc, to children offer something to strengthen society.

In fact, science even says that children raised in same-sex families are happier and healthier!

The study, conducted in Australia by University of Melbourne researchers “surveyed 315 same-sex parents and 500 children.” The children in the study scored about six percent higher than Australian kids in the general population. The advantages held up “when controlling for a number sociodemographic factors such as parent education and household income.” The study was the largest of its kind in the world.

The lead researcher, Dr. Simon Crouch, noted that in same-sex couples parents have to “take on roles that are suited to their skill sets rather than falling into those gender stereotypes.” According to Crouch, this leads to a “more harmonious family unit and therefore feeding on to better health and well being.”

The study actually says that gender stereotypes don’t help the couple, but instead, being themselves and taking on the roles they are best suited for. A child doesn’t care about the gender of its parents, it cares that it is loved and taken care of.

Longenecker has no argument here. There is no evidence to back up that a heterosexual couple or a homosexual couple offer society anything better than each other. He just doesn’t like the idea, so he chooses to ridicule and shame such couples.

And to argue that same-sex marriage is a contradiction is to be intellectually dishonest. Marriage predates Longenecker’s current choice of religion (he changes religions like we all change socks) by thousands of years. In fact, the holy book he clings to in order to support his bigotry can’t even define marriage in a way that fits his current bigoted definition.

At the end of the day, Longenecker is made that the Pope is sounding as much as a bigoted asshole as he wants him to. He needs a hateful sounding Pope so that he can mask his own hate in his religion.

Oh, and Longenecker, please remind me again, which group is known for raping and moselstion children?
