Caitlyn Jenner mocks GOP bathroom laws, suggests banning Republicans from bathrooms July 20, 2016

It doesn’t seem often these days that Caitlyn Jenner comes to the defense of transgender men and women in this country. Too often she takes a hardline Republican stance and plays down the discrimination and hate placed on the trans community. Just yesterday she told reporters it was harder to come out as a Republican than a transgender woman. You need to be especially privileged to have that be true.

With that aside, she did discuss the recent transgender bathroom laws that Republican held states have tried to pass recently.

Speaking at an event organized by American Unity Fund and the Log Cabin Republicans, two groups that largely advocate for LGBTQ equality on the Republican side, Jenner mocked the laws and suggested Republicans are more dangerous than trans people.

“Over the last few years, we have three Republican state representatives who were all arrested for lewd behavior in a men’s bathroom,” she said, mentioning by name former Mississippi Rep. John Hinson, former Idaho Sen. Larry Craig and former Florida state Rep. Bob Allen.

“Maybe what we should do is ban Republican representatives at a state level” from using public restrooms, she joked. “We want to protect people.”

She went on to say she was very disappointed by the current state of the GOP over the last five to ten years, but that she was not willing to give up on it just yet.

“The Republican Party needs to understand,” Jenner said. “They need to know people that are trans.”
