The NRA hates Tim Kaine for passing gun control measures in their home state July 25, 2016

While Tim Kaine is, in my eyes, far from a progressive candidate for vice-president, he is a vocal enemy of the NRA has earned an F rating from the terrorist organization.

Kaine was governor of Virgina during the horrific 2007 Virginia Tech massacre when Kenneth Cho shot and killed 32 of his classmates.

After the shooting, Kaine worked with both parties in the state to pass stricter background check laws and to close a loophole that had allowed Cho to purchase his guns.

His legislation was so successful that Joe Biden tried to use it as common sense measure for what congress could pass nationally after the Newtown massacre.

In 2012, when running for senate, the NRA released the following statement.

“As governor, Tim Kaine vetoed HB 1106, which would have allowed law-abiding Virginians to carry a handgun in their personal motor vehicle or vessel as long as it was secured in a container or compartment.”

As I said, Kaine is far from a progressive, but it is nice to see at least one party running candidates who will try and do something about gun violence in this country. As each day another mass shooting rocks the nation, sensible legislation, such as that put forth by Kaine, could help make a world of difference.
