The Chicago Tribune has a sexism problem.
Only weeks after putting Bill Clinton on the cover of their newspaper under a headline about Hillary Clinton winning the Democratic presidential nomination, they are not back with this.Corey Cogdell-Unrein is, in fact, the wife of a Chicago Bears’ lineman but what does he have to do with winning the medal?
Yes, in the article, by all means, mention him, I am sure he is a staple in Chicago, but to really tweet that as the story headline?
This is as bad as the networks to cover all women’s sports by discussing the husbands and boyfriends who support them and without those men, their Olympic victory would not be possible.
Now, in fairness, the headline when you click the article is Corey Cogdell, wife of Bears lineman Mitch Unrein, wins bronze in Rio, but come on lets once and for all stop identifying female athletes by who they are married to.
Find me a single Michael Phelps story that mentions a woman behind his success.
