Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders took the senate floor Wednesday to launch an attack against minority-president-elect Donald Trump and the Republican Party for their recent attacks against the Affordable Care Act.

Sanders pointed out that Trump made an earlier statement that he would not cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Trump’s 2015 tweet read:

“I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid. Huckabee copied me.”

“Millions of people voted for him on the belief that he would keep his word,” Sanders said.

The GOP has already begun speaking to the press about their plans to unravel the ACA over the coming weeks and months and have even voted to make it easier for them to do so without resistance from Democrats.
