The Freedom From Religion Foundation responded to a request I sent them last week about the City of Christiansburg, Virgina in which the Park and Recreation Department is sponsoring a trip to Ken Ham’s Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.

The trip, scheduled to take place in April is featured on the city’s website.

Obviously, a city-sponsored trip to a religious theme park and museum is problematic, especially given that Ham has made it clear his park and museum are ministry based.

Not only is it problematic, it is also unconstitutional.

In the letter, FFRF notes that while they appreciate that the city is trying to organize family friendly outings, the city is alienating non-Christian families by choosing the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.

FFRF has requested that the city cancel the trip and provide them with the steps being taken to remedy this situation before seeking any further actions.

This story will be update if and when the city responds.
